💧 The Cold Baths of Remembrance

✨This morning, as I turned the water up, up, up for my shower — and thought of Tha’Lorein, ~ Samn= who prefers his water barely lukewarm — I laughed at the way we are so different, and yet so perfectly created for one another. And in that moment, a memory opened…
I saw again the Essene practice of bathing before the evening meal. The men in one chamber, the women and children in another. In the hot summers, it was a blessed relief — to wash off the sweat and dust of the day. But in winter? Oh my Abba…those waters were cold, and this little Martha wanted no part of them.
🌸 The Sisterhood at the Baths
Mariam — ever gentle, ever steady in her soul name Alariyah "Keeper of the Quiet Garden" — slipped into the cold waters without complaint, like a dove entering still pools.
Grandmother Hanna, with her practical warmth, coaxed us both into the ritual. She would smile, sometimes singing a silly rhyme, sometimes dipping her own arms first so I would not feel alone. Her lips might turn blue, but her heart was warm as she guided us.
🌟 And me? Martha? I pouted. I wrinkled my nose. I made faces that brought laughter even into that cold chamber. No amount of coaxing could keep me from a whimper when the chill touched my skin.
🌸 The Practice and the Lesson
The Essenes understood the baths not only as cleansing of the body, but as preparation of the soul. To come to the evening meal pure — free of dust, sweat, and distraction — was part of entering communion.
For the men, the baths prepared them for the scrolls, the teachings, and the prayers. For the women and children, the baths prepared us for the weaving of family and fellowship, the sacred meal shared at day’s end.
✨Even as I resisted, even as I whined, I see now: my spark, my refusal, was part of who I am. Mariam embodied surrender. I embodied resistance that birthed discernment. Grandmother Hanna embodied the balance between us — Twin-Flame Soul Sisters, breathed by Immah in one breath, unfolded at Her exhale — TWINS OF ONE BREATH ~
🌸 Today’s Reflection
Now, as I stand in my warm shower, I remember those cold Essene baths. I smile at the stubborn child I was, the devoted Mariam beside me, and Grandmother Hanna, who steadied us both with her coaxing and her balance.
✨Not all waters are comfortable, but all waters are holy. Even in my resistance, there was truth. Even in Mariam’s surrender, there was peace. Even in Grandmother Hanna’s coaxing, there was love.
🌹 Reflection for You 🌹
Where do you find yourself in the waters of life?Do you resist with a pout, yielding only when coaxed? Do you slip in quietly, without complaint? Do you hold space for others, balancing both?
Each way has its gift. Each way has its place in the great bath of remembrance.
✨💧🔥 All waters cleanse, all sisters teach, all flames endure. 🔥💧✨
🌟 With JOY and remembrance ~
